Excited to announce the date for one of our favourite days of the year: the annual Northern Karma Spring Retreat! A morning to spend time in nature with like minded women and (literally) walk through some exercises to help you feel more grounded, calm, and connected to what really matters.
Throughout my life I've been immensely privileged to be surrounded by fiercely independent women; say what you want about The Spice Girls but all those messages about girl power didn't fall upon deaf ears. Brought up in an all female household, my greatest role models in life have been my single mother, my sister, the matriarchs of my family. As I connect with friends living with chronic illness, demanding jobs, divorce, grief, motherhood, I'm consistently reminded of feminine strength and resilience - yet also our irrepressible tendency put the desires or needs of others above our own. This need to constantly prioritise others, coupled with the desire to feel (or at least appear) strong and independent, can be a lethal combination. Sometimes it feels like almost all the women I know are "coping" or "dealing with it" - right up until the point where they're completely stressed, drained, burnt out. Sound familiar?
The idea behind this spring retreat is to have an adventure with other women who understand these struggles, spend some time outdoors in nature - shown to have quantifiable mental health benefits, and ultimately provide you with some tools to take away with you and incorporate into your everyday life; tools to help you create time for yourself, reevaluate your priorities, and grow the confidence to take tangible steps towards living the kind of life you really want to lead.
The retreat day is forming part of a full weekend of workshops - check the calendar for more details!
